Angel went to her new forever home on January 23, 2009. She is bringing much joy to Dick and Andrea, and is taking obedience classes on her way to becoming a certified therapy dog. Congratulations to Angel and her new parents!
In addition to her new parents, Angel has made a new and very special friend! Ebed is 17 years old and seems quite content to share all of the comfy spots with sweet Angel!
Bella came to us in June '09 from Maui and found her forever home here on Oahu in early July. Bella is thoroughly enjoying life with her new family and kitty Lexi!!! From cat-naps to wrestling, Lexi & Bella have become best friends. Congratulations to sweet Bella and your new family!!! We couldn't be happier for you all!
Omi was adopted on Thanksgiving Day 2008 by Chip and Kristy. To go with her new life, Chip and Kristy gave her a new name. Omi is now Isabella, aka Izzie. Izzie is enjoying a life of spoiled luxury with her IG brothers Dante & Vinnie, and her Rhodesian Ridgeback sister Mia. Izzie enjoys snuggling under the blankets on the couch with Vinnie; playing tug with Mia; wrestling with Dante; and, sleeping in "the big bed" with her new mom and dad. What a wonderful way for this very sweet girl to start the new year! Congratulations Izzie for finding your perfect forever family!
We are so excited that Merlin found his forever home September 13, 2009!! He came into rescue from an extremely undesireable situation and now has the family that every IG dreams of! Here's a note from Merlin's Mom: Merlin has been the perfect addition to our family. He has received several nicknames already -- "Ether-Dog" due to his unbelievable ability to sleep everywhere, in any position and through anything; "Pillow Dog" for his desire to have his head on your pillow, use your head for a pillow, or allow my daughter to use him for a pillow while watching TV; "Velcro Dog" for his need to be touching...a paw, his head, his butt or his back against one of his humans; "Goofball" for his uncanny ability to trip on his own paws or narrowly miss running into a tree while chasing a ball at the park; "Scooby" for acting scared every time we play hide-n-seek, even though I hide in the same place every time; and "Squeegee-Dog" due to his compulsion to lick the water from our legs when we get out of the shower.
He has adapted to the Northwest weather more quickly than I anticipated. Mattie, our Jack Russell, has taken charge of Merlin. She loves to sleep with him inside his crate (and he appreciates it even more!) and has taken to cramming herself even closer to him as the nights now get colder.
I can now no longer imagine our lives without this sweet, goofy dog!
Congratulations Elizabeth, Mark, Kate, Mattie & Merlin!!!

Simon came to us in July '09 courtesy of the Oahu SPCA following their rescue of hundreds of animals from an awful hoarding situation. IGCA Rescue - Hawaii would like to thank the Oahu SPCA for their hard work and dedication, and for giving us the opportunity to find the perfect forever home for this sweet IG. Mahalo Kale of K9 Kokua.
Simon was adopted in November of 2009 and is living the life with his new dad. He gets to go on hikes and frequents the area dog parks.
Congratulations Simon and David!
Figaro came to us in October '09 and went to his new forever home on December. He weighed 28.5 pounds when he was surrendered to us; at his time of adoption he was down to 21 pounds. He is enjoying being completely spoiled by his new parents, Christine and Skeet. They will continue his diet and exercise regime to take off another 5 pounds. Congratulations to Figgy and his new parents!
Figaro has a new brother who is an IG/Whippet mix named Mikey. Don't they look like they could be related??
Bubba became an official member of the Powell Family Zoo yesterday, January 31, 2010. They've changed his name to Brando, because he has those droopy Marlon Brando eyes. And who better to name him after than the Godfather himself?! He loves his new name and just fits in so well.
Because of the major strides that Brando has made since coming into rescue in May 2009, and especially since they've had him as a foster since the end of August, they decided that it wouldn't be fair to him to have to start over from "square one" with a new family in a new environment. Brando's learned how to be a dog; the member of a pack; to be an affectionate companion; and, best of all, a couch potato like the rest of the Powell Family Zoo. Mostly though, Brando chose them. Who are they to deny him that?
Chip and Kristy couldn't be happier to be able to rehabilitate Brando and give him the love and family he deserves. "Thank you Lori for giving us this amazing opportunity!"

Sumo came to us in October 2009, and Charlie came to us in December 2009. BOTH of these sweet boys were adopted on February 5, 2010! What an amazing way to start off a new year! Here's a note from their new family: Many thanks to Lori and the great folks at IG Rescue Hawaii for helping us adopt Charlie and Sumo! Twelve year old Charlie is the most lovable, bright, well behaved IG who is so calm and sociable! His peppy personality makes life enjoyable and a perfect companion for us! Two year old Sumo (who turns 3 this month) is a cute little guy who is lovable, smart, well-behaved and energetic! He loves to shower us with kisses and is eager to please! Big brother Charlie sets the example for his little brother every day! They have brought much laughter, joy and happiness to our family! We are honored to have the privilege of being part of your wonderful organization!
Thank you for the great care and love that goes into rehabilitating each and every one of the rescues!
Mahalo Nui Loa!
The Sakata Ohana
We are so excited for Charlie & Sumo! Congratulations to all!!!
Chia entered rescue in February 2010; she was turned in by a good samaritan who got her out of undesirable living conditions. She was adopted by her foster family in March 2010. Congratulations sweet Chia!
Bella (formerly Carmella) entered rescue in June 2010; we were able to get her from the OSPCA thanks to kind donors who helped us pay for her adoption fee. She found her forever home in August 2010, and is enjoying life with her rescue brother Figaro (adopted December 2009). She also has an iggy/whippet cousin named Mikey. Congratulations Bella!!!
Flower entered rescue in June 2009; she was transferred to us by the OSPCA (huge mahalo to Kale of K9 Kokua) following a rescue of hundreds of animals from a hoarding situation. She has been our most challenging foster as she has major fear and trust issues; it took us 6 months to get her walking on a leash with a harness and another 4 months to get her used to walking with a leash attached to a collar. We are so proud of the progress she has made and decided to adopt her on September 13, 2010. Welcome to the Brown family, Flower!
